The Sovereign Cherokee Nation Tejas has a dedicated and loyal allegiance with the United States of America.

In 1990 the Department of Justice issued the Sovereign Cherokee Nation Tejas a determination letter as to the SCNT status with the US, they determined that the SCNT is a "DOMESTIC DEPENDENT NATION" this was reconfirmed in 2001. Our Council of Chiefs accepted this determination, in that the SCNT does depend on the US for military security of our homeland.

Our oath of citizenship and oath of office state that if requested:

"I WILL HELP AID AND SUPPORT THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN DEFENCE OF OUR HOMELAND FROM ENEMIES OR INTRUDERS EITHER FOREIGN OR DOMESTIC." WE HAVE CONDUCTED OURSELVES HONORABLY IN THIS ENDEAVOR EVER SINCE THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS BECAME THE STATE OF TEXAS IN 1845.

THE WAR BETWEEN THE STATES WE WERE IN ALLEGIANCE WITH TEXAS.

SCNT has had citizens in every war and conflict since 1845. Some have been KILLED, wounded and maimed in their service, however we have all served with HONOR.

We continue to serve having had 34 of our citizens been given a smoke ceremony for protection in battle and by the grace of A DO DA they have all came home to us.

This site is for the memory and to acknowledge all our citizens who have and are now serving in the military.
